The Striped Bass bite is heating up along the shores of Wells, Maine, as we head deeper into the spring season. As waters warm, the stripers are becoming more active, with anglers reporting consistent catches around Tate's Hell, Maine’s rocky coastline, and near the mouth of the Wells Harbor. These striped bass are making their way up from the deeper waters of the Gulf of Maine, hungry and ready to strike. For the most action, try fishing early mornings or late afternoons when the fish are most active. Live eels and cut mackerel have been the go-to bait for enticing larger bass, while topwater lures have worked well for exciting surface strikes. Expect fish ranging from 24 to 36 inches, with some reaching up to the 40-inch mark as the season progresses. The weather has been cooperative, and conditions are excellent for those looking to target stripers in the area. Water temperatures are averaging in the mid-50s, which is ideal for their migration and feeding patterns. 34 yrs Married and together for 40. Andy and Patti had a helluva Anniversary night With 25 over 40”s Andy with his PB 47.5” Thanks for spending your special night with us !! “ That was the best Striper fishing trip I’ve been on” Andy said.

Wells Harbor - York, ME Fishing Report on 26th Aug, 2024 - 2

I ended my July wrap up with this statement; “It’s 1 Aug and mate Chase Trudeau wanted to spend his birthday with another night run.” August 2024 was quite simply our best month ever!!! No I know it’s not over, however the last week of August we will be in the mountains chasing Black Bears. As I sit lakeside and think back of the last 25 days, it was quite remarkable the amount of big fish that were brought over the side of the boat. Utilizing Live Eels at night showed to be very effective boating big bass. The night bite simply put is the best if you’re up for the challenge! Bait was off and on in the mornings, however one afternoon I’ve never seen some much on the surface. Mate Chase “ Chiefy” boated his personal best a 50” striper that he’ll never forget. Through the photo collection, you’ll see many personal best, some first, and the best of all many many smiles. Thanks to all that joined us this August! It’s one I’ll never forget!
